People sometimes say machine learning/AI is "just curve fitting". Let's see why and why this isn't 100% true, and remind ourselves of some AI and statistics history too. We'll remember there is more to AI than LLMs, and we'll also see a few ProTips for ensuring we can test/deploy any AI code sensibly.
